International Legal English Course
Course Rationale:
The course aims to provide the students with a grounding in how to use English in a commercial law environment. It is suitable for both law students and practising lawyers. It focuses on the areas of commercial law, with particular emphasis on company law and contracts. The course also provides specific preparation for students wishing to take the University of Cambridge International Legal Certificate (For further information on this qualification, visit www.LegalEnglishTest.org ).
The course involves work in all four language skills areas (Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking) as well as grammatical structure and vocabulary items specific to Legal English. Authentic case studies and legal texts ( US, UK and EU ) are used throughout the course, and a series of online activities are provided for extra practice.
Potential candidates for the course will be required to take an entrance test in general English, without charge or commitment to the course, to ensure that they meet the minimum level required.
