The first IH school in Portugal was set up in 1963 in Lisbon with specific,clear-cut objectives: to offer the highest quality at all times, to ensure constant professional and teaching development and to respond to all customer requirements in an efficient and friendly manner.

Together with its branch school across the Tagus in Barreiro, IH Lisbon/Barreiro teaches English, French and German on-site to approximately 800 students.   In addition, IH Lisbon teaches in numerous companies, as well as in schools and ATL´s.

IH Lisbon has been involved in the teaching of Portuguese as a foregn language since its foundation in the 60's.   It has a permanent staff of fully trained Portuguese teachers and receives students from all over the world.

IH's commitment to the initial training of teachers of English and other languages is one of the corner-stones of its reputation and IH Lisbon has contributed to the work in this area, running CELTA courses, both full and part-time, as well as the DELTA and courses for teachers of younger learners.
