Portuguese

There are many reasons to learn Portuguese: it is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world and is the official language of Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and, of course, Portugal itself.   It is the language of Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Jorge Amado and the recent Nobel prize winner, José Saramago.   It is also an official language of the UN, the European Union and a number of other international organisations.

Where better to learn it than in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.   Lisbon, a city of seven hills, nestling beside the magnificent Tagus Estuary, managing to combine its elegant 18th architecture with its older pre-earthquake red pantile roofs and cobbled streets and brash shiny-mirrored modern shopping centres.

And there's nowhere better to study the language than at International House Lisbon, one of the founder schools of the International House World Organisation which, like all the schools in IH, provides courses of the highest quality, made  possible by a system of supervision by the World Organisation itself, with just one aim in mind:  to ensure that our students are given the most effective means to learn the the language of their choice.
